Darkness had become a friend and a foe in equal measure in my life. Darkness was something I was used to. It was the uncertainty of this room that was dangerous. Not knowing where the snakes are, if they are poisonous or not, it was the uncertainty that made me shiver at the slightest noise or feeling of something slithering across the surface.
It hadn't registered till now between all my pain and fear. How small this room really was. I would have been able to touch the walls if I stretched my hands. The only source of light in this room was the corridor light that the bastard had switched off, going out.
